last day in heaven

i'll be descended back to reality tomorrow. it's the last day of my very long leave (15 days inclusive of weekends). i'm happy that i did finished what i needed to do ..well..all except packing my closets full of clothes... in order to maximise my leave..i got up today (actually woken up by the hard pounding/drilling from my neighbour's renovation) and sent my lovely silk-satin dress to the laundry's. bought it for months..but didn't had time to send it to the laundry's...can't wait to wear it...Took a walk around the marine parade neighbourhood and found many changes there. the post office had shifted...and now it is taken over by a fruit and titbits' shop. lucky for me my favorite curry puff is still at the hawker center. got one to munch. yum...Went to transfer some money from my non-favorite bank account to my favorite one. ha...Walked around parkway parade..didn't get anything except some snacks for HF's daughters and myself. Then I met HF for a massage and took the opportunity to see her little one. So adorable... and that marks how old i am...my friend, one that i was playing "masak masak" with when we were in primary school, is already a mum of 2 ...

well..it's been a good break..and though i don't feel i had enough yet..i guess it's best to return back to my day-to-day or i'll get addicted to this lifestyle soon....it's easy to adapt..

next to look forward for is girls' day out, water's visit and our (D & I) experiment with chinese herbs for soup and dishes............for a better week ahead..........cheers to all...

store & pour

this term was introduced to me by D. i had spend my leave these 2 weeks packing & unpacking since D was in the midst of a house move. we've learnt quite a bit about storage from the arm strenuous routine. if a cupboard/wardrobe is not well-designed or made for the purpose of what you need to store, it'll probably leave you with some wastage of space. i mean, if you're living in singapore, unless you're a millionaire, you will not be able to have a big house with alot of storage space for organising your things.

muji, ikea & howards storage were some places we visited over and over again.
muji - has well made and clean looking home furniture which is great for small space.
howards - stuff are on the high end side, however is good if you're looking for better quality storage.
ikea - well, if you're on a budget, perhaps you can try this. they have just come up with a good series of kitchen range of products. also, the storage range they have is quite good and we bought alot of boxes and compartment storage to organise D's personal and bar tools.

gluttony is no sin

26, a number which means something to water and I.

my hot mocha..

pineapple & ginger juice

aged beef with parmigiano reggiano

we headed to dempsey hill today and had a great time revisiting some of the gourmet stores which we haven't been for a while. wish the gals could come with me some time...i'm sure they'll like hanging out there. for drinks D had the pineapple & ginger juice while i took the hot mocha..and because we were feeling a little greedy..we ordered a tapas which was the dried aged beef with parmigiano reggiano cheese. except for the juice which was not freshly juiced, the orders were not too bad.

after doing a little grocery shopping for tomorrow's dinner (we're gonna make mushroom spaghetti)...we crossed over to Margaritas for dinner...

indulgence in food does make one feels better...i needed that.

22 July 2008

pamper me!

love what i did today...

got up at 9am...left home at 10am...took a bus then train to raffles place for my mani/pedi (nails are now painted with coffee break tone) appointment at 11am...finished by 12pm...and reached orchard road at around 1215pm...thought i was gonna have lunch alone..but darling D came to accompany me..knowing i won't have a "sit-down" lunch by myself..(he was right actually..i had already bought a bun and donut to eat while shopping)...we had cedele..i decided on the hearty beef stew...then while D was finishing up ..i went to Browhaus for my appointment...took me only 10mins....felt happy and refined after all the grooming today..after that..i got the book i mentioned in my entry below from kinokuniya....then left Orchard (and D)...to meet my long time friend HF for coffee at siglap...had a great time chatting..catching up..gossiping...before i came back home for dinner around 6pm with my parents...next..i'm gonna catch up on my SATC reruns....and that's my tuesday!! happy. if only life was that simple everyday. (sigh)

upgrading

becos i feel a need to upgrade myself..so as to pursue further in my career
i got myself an educational book "The Professional Risk Managers' Guide to Financial Instruments" (it's not something you'll find me doing on any other days..)
in hope that one day..equipped with the knowledge.. i will be accepted and trained as a
credit analyst....by some kind souls...
it cost me roughly a dress from GG5 ...but as D said.."this is to double..triple my salary" when i was whining about how expensive the book was ...his wise words did hit me...
that's the only thing I got from Orchard Road today...yeah..i couldn't believe it either...

21 July 2008

yeah, got my Muji card...
gonna make my room look prettier...

fallen devils

3 shelves, 2 cupboards, a tv console, many cartons of heavy boxes and only 2 buddies.
only through such times you know
who can truely go through hard times with you,
and who you can really depend on in time of need.
the mark of brotherhood.
or perhaps...just another mark of brotherhood.

thank you, E (for D).

warfare...

You know I never wanted to watch movies that are action-driven, intense and thrilling or that needs my limited brain cells to work overtime. What i want in a movie is one that makes me laugh and one that makes my other side (happy/arty/creative if i may say) comes out. I mean work's drying my poor brain cells and I'm thinking so much these days on implementing new procedures, enhancing systems and training my colleagues that enough is enough. I need a break and be relax after work or during my leave.

But after watching Red Cliff today, which is quite a "heavy" epic movie, i found my love once again for "thinking" movies. What made me felt through the film, was the admiration I had for those who lived in the past. With no technology and resources, the war craft was amazing and techniques were smart. They had so little, but they fought great intelligent wars after wars. The strategies, types of equipments and military techniques/formations are not what you could find on PS3 or any online games. Never could one imagine how war was fought then, their scholars must be a 100 times better than the scholars serving the nations now. Chu-Ge-Liang would equate to our Minister of Defense now except that he is an extinct specie in terms of war fare. Are humans now using less of our brain cells as compared to our ancesters?

If we had remain complacent, there would be no advancement. But with advancement, what's left of us...really..?

juggling between sending CVs, packing my CDs/cassettes and blogging.

yah, i can't believe i still have cassettes and so many of them. most of them are dubbed by friends and some were dad's! haha..and i found a walkman too..will try if it works later if i can find some AA+ batteries. can't imagine how it is like listening to those songs...

..for every old song..it'll bring you back to a scene you might love or hate...

15 days

I wonder to myself what I'm going to do in this coming 15 days. As it is for most banks, compliance leave is a compulsory and for mine, I have to take 10 business days straight. This time, I've got no holiday plans except

  • to help D with packing and unpacking as he is moving to a new place.
  • find a good dentist and go for a routine cleaning
  • send out some CVs
  • do my nails
  • visit Browhaus
  • catch up with movies & TVB serials
  • clean up my room

Let's hope they can be fulfilled with much more being done!

Slow Dance

With my work so hectic, the days aimlessly passing by, time spent on others but not myself, I wish I could just take a step back and slow down. This is something I read years back. Thought it's a good time to read it again.

Have you ever watched kids
On a merry-go-round?
Or listened to the rain
Slapping on the ground?
Ever followed a butterfly's erratic flight?
Or gazed at the sun into the fading night?
You'd better slow down.
Don't dance so fast.
Time is short.
The music won't last.

Do you run through each day
On the fly?
When you ask "How are you?"
Do you hear the reply?
When the day is done
Do you lie in your bed
With the next hundred chores
Running through your head?
You'd better slow down
Don't dance so fast.
Time is short.
The music won't last.

Ever told your child,
We'll do it tomorrow?
And in your haste,
Not see his sorrow?
Ever lost touch,
Let a good friendship die
Cause you never had time
To call and say "Hi"?
You'd better slow down.
Don't dance so fast.
Time is short.
The music won't last.

When you run so fast to get somewhere
You miss half the fun of getting there.
When you worry and hurry through your day,
It is like an unopened gift.... Thrown away.
Life is not a race.
Do take it slower
Hear the music
Before the song is over.
