i got to know today that a very dear friend of mine is having cancer. she took it very calmly and slowly. she teared a little, but other than that, she looked dazed and her usual quiet self. she didn't want to go back home after the results and we (me with 2 other friends) pretending that things were normal, headed for lunch and shopping in orchard. then at one point, she said she wanted to go home. was she beginning to realised that she is ill? i got home after a long chat with one of the other friend and while i was in my room alone, i began to cry. if i was crying, how about her? the friend with cancer. alot must be going through her head...as there were alot going through mine. i wish time could fast forward for me to blog another entry...celebrating the recovery of this very dear friend of mine. i pray.

hong kong hauls

this time shopping in hk seems much more fruitful despite the short trip. it's the season for summer (that means floral) clothes ....these are some of the things i've got!

braided hairband, colored island bracelets and explorer shorts from H&M

my most expensive handbag and it's from Rabeanco. it's calf leather and quite heavy on its own actually. but i love it. we have Rabeanco in Singapore and you can find it in Ion Orchard but it's much more expensive here. in HK, it's tax free and we got a 15% off our purchase (sis got one too)......and we became a member instantly...the small key pouch was free when i purchased my bag!

guess what? paul and joe collaborated with Uniqlo and i've got myself 2 casual tops! didn't see it in singapore though. the top one with green flower motifs and purple ribbons look quite aunty...heh...but i didn't care. there is actually the logo of paul and joe at the back of the top...but no one can see unless i tie my hair up...i'm gonna wear it today...let's see how it turns out..

ahh...this one..is definitely a paul and joe design...nice right?

sis got this pair of electric blue pumps from H&M at a very reasonable price. i actually like it!! heh..didn't get myself a pair.

3-Inch-Sin

it is D's birthday tomorrow, so I thought it'll be nice to find a new dessert place to celebrate his birthday this weekend. and well, to also get both of us excited and in the mood for this new lap of his life. so as i was browsing online in search of a new, good place, i chanced upon the website for 3-Inch-Sin and the best thing is, they serve ONLY our favorite molten cakes and in different flavours!

we went there after lunch today. they are located at cluny court - a place we've visited once or twice but never got to try anything there. 3IS is located at a quiet corner on the 2nd floor. when we were there, it was full, so we left our number for them to call us once there are available seats.it wasn't long before they called us and when we got there, there were no customers left.

As we missed the mini ones on the menu when we ordered (guess we were too excited and jump into the PURPOSE for coming), both of us ordered one original molten cake each. One 3-inch molten cake is $5/- and three mini molten cakes with flavours of your choice is also $5/-. The molten cake was YUMMY! very moist inside and definitely rich!!

We were lucky enough to have a chat with one of the owners, Celine. She sat down telling us more about her journey and on how she got to here today. Celine was once a teacher at Republic Polytechnic teaching Communications and Culture. And one day when she got up from bed, she decided to do something different and signed up for a 9 months course at Cordon Bleu, Bangkok. when she got back to Singapore after that, perhaps while deciding what she wanted to do with her life, she went back to a 9-to-5 job for a year or so before she started 3-inch-sin. together with her brother who handles the financial matters of the business, they started this homely, warm and happy looking dessert place a month back. the molten cakes are made with valrhona chocolate and are freshly baked when you order them. so be patient as it is about a 10 minutes wait for the warm chocolate molten cake to be served fresh from the oven!!

Reservations are allowed and it's a good place to hang out with friends and have dessert over a cup of coffee/tea (or even IBC root bear/coke) and chill out on a lazy quiet sunday afternoon, just like what we did today...!

Things I Don't Want to Do when I Grow Old

when i grow old (as in to a old woman with white hair)...i hope i won't do the following :-

  1. have long hair - even if i were to have long hair, i have got to bun it up. otherwise, i prefer short white hair.
  2. be naggy - i wouldn't like being the recipients of the nags, so hopefully i won't do that either. as i've always said, treat others how you want to be treated.
  3. depend on my children, if ever i got any - independence had been a drive since day 1. no staying with them, or asking them for money. that's a big no-no. they didn't asked to be born.
  4. speak louder than i need to - i guess as you grow older, you can't hear yourself that clearly, thus you tend to speak louder. but the fact is, it's really kinda annoying.
  5. dress like i'm in my teens - i don't do that now, so i hope i'll be more conscious and dress my age.
when time comes and if i do any of the above, please remind me, that these are things i wish i won't do...ever.

Going NUDE!

Paul and Joe's 2010 Spring Creation Eye Shadow
Paper Lantern (Pearly/Silk), Chateau (Pearly/Silk); Pottery (Matte/Suede)

sometimes, i prefer to do away with the shimmers and the glitters so i've decide to go for the nude look. with these....i hope to achieve the simple, subtle look...as though no make up is on me...

Arinco King, Arashiyama

We first had arinco in Arashiyama, Kyoto. Woah....it brings back good memory when we gobble down this very light chiffon cake.

We got this for 50% as there was a sale going on during cny. A bargain as the usual cost around $15 for a small roll of chiffon cake roll (about 15cm long). The THING about this chiffon cake is the light cream that goes in between those soft sponge cake. We usually take the caramel one..but it was sold out ...so we took the vanilla one which we thought taste even better...

umm..can't seem to find the picture of the cake i took last time...will do so and link it here ....

a wallet finally.........and it's from FLY NOW!!.

on my last day in bangkok, i was feeling a little tired, restless and most of all a little empty...though i know i can't feel any emptier with all those food i've been feeding myself. umm...but even D could tell from my face. why? now... you see, on my several ocassions in bangkok, i would to get a piece or 2 items from Fly Now (you can read more about this designer here in my earlier post here) just to satisfy my desire of owning another piece of Fly Now's item. this time, i did not fancy anything from their boutiques....the collection don't seem to appeal to me. it was little heavy, vintage and baggy...so i was feeling little disappointed that i might leave bangkok empty handed without any of their item...but just as all hopes were thinning in bangkok's polluted air...D had wanted to go to Siam Paragon to look-see...and guess what!! when we were casually walking through Siam Paragon departmental store to get to the escalator, from the corner of my eyes I saw a Fly Now logo....and it's their bag and wallet collections!!! apparently, these are exclusively sold in Siam Paragon and no where else! very quickly, ...i laid eyes on a lamb skin wallet which I couldn't resist......i've been meaning to get myself a wallet for the longest time....and here it is.....yeah!! i'm a happy girl.

orchid-pink grey in hue - the brand name is embosed subtlely on the leather from lamb skin

2 zip-up compartments ideally for coins, receipts and even cards

button-up between compartments

several card compartments...on this side..

and on the next side...

new year = new shoes!

got my first pair of converse shoe from rockstar. i call it a ballerina's sneaker. the shoe and its soles are slimmer than the usual sneakers.looks girly and are really comfy. unfortunately or was it fortunately, the display piece (which is about a week's old) was the last pair available. so i grabbed it since i love the design and the color. umm...rockstar has a great selection of sneakers for us ladies which comes in limited pieces.....perhaps this is the beginning of my new interest in another genre of shoes?

D got a pair of Tom's slip-ons. I tried the ladies version and it was nice to wear and really light as well. the front of the shoes were expandable for those with broader feet but yet looked slim. nice heh? might get a pair for myself when more new designs arrive during end feb.

a new pair of shoes for each of us to start this new year. yay!

new year's brekkie at kith

we were having brekkie at kith this morning, a newly found cafe after our ramen dinner (another newly found place!) last week. kith is located at rodyk street (near robertson quay). a small, simple and humble cafe great for an afternoon tea and being away from the huzz and buzz. they are open from 7am to 7pm and serves a good range of beverages, breakfast spread and cakes.
i feel so peaceful just being there.

what is a babycino? a small cappucino? why don't they have a babymochacino. heh?

woohhaha...i like this pic of D...he was telling me something when i snapped! ha....
happy day. yup, a great start!
